WINNERS - Training Initiative of the Year

We are thrilled to announce we are the Winners of the Training Initiative of the Year for the 2023 Construction Awards of Excellence.

In recent years our drive to support young people into construction has grown and grown. We started out by visiting a couple of local careers fairs and found that young people don't know what the Construction Industry has to offer to be considered for their future or the career opportunities available.

We are passionate about industry and the varied career paths it can offer, not to mention the skills gap. So our management team set off on a mission to speak to as many local schools and pupils as possible.

To understand the schools careers path our MD became an Enterprise Advisor through Inspira and was partnered with Balshaws Church of England High School. As the relationship was built it was felt that although some pupils had shown an interest in Construction they didn't really know which trades they wanted to do or understand enough about them. Through this, a training programme was developed where pupils came to our Head Office once a month for the academic year to try joinery, plastering, brickwork and electrical to enable them to make an informed career choice.

The first year has been a success and will be continued next year. We continue to attend as many career fairs as possible each year to encourage teachers, young people and parents to consider careers in construction.
